Also known as the Unmaker, Plane-Eater, Timebreaker, the Mindpoison, Inevitable Ruin, Herald of Dispersion, Shadow of Reason, and Reylir’s Bane. To their acolytes, they are sometimes referred to as “Chronos Vanquisher”

In a timeline long forgotten, Anachron was a mortal wizard enamored with planar travel and obsessed with the idea of time travel too. Not just to the future - which is trivial, but also back to the past. Anachron dedicated their life researching chronurgy in the hopes of being able to travel through it as freely as walking.

Ironically, they found that they didn’t have enough time to complete the research towards the end of their life, and diverted their attention to lichdom as many mortal wizards filled with hubris do. Unfortunately for reality, Anachron succeeded in their transformation. Within 300 years of becoming a lich, they discovered the secrets to free tempolodimensional travel.

They spend their unlimited days skipping and punching holes through timelines and planes like a termite in a brittle wood sculpture, just so that they can experience everything everywhere all the time. Breaking linearity takes its toll on the fabric of reality, especially when done so frequently and without reason. Worlds, no, entire realities graced by Anachron slowly unravel and disperse into pure randomness which diffuse into other realities.

Rather than consuming mortal souls, Anachron is content with consuming great swatches of the fabric of time and reality. They have become a sort of force of nature, or a law of the universe. Few even have the foolish bravado to think they can stop them.

The Untime-Touched

People who have been touched by fragments of these scattered timelines develop false memories from other times or places. Those who are dosed with a sufficient amount of paracausal radiation gradually begin to warp reality around them to reflect those displaced memories. The effect is subtle but undeniable to those trained to see it. Creatures, constructs, songs, concepts, and magics not native to this plane or time begin to appear in their non-immediate vicinity. The memory of people who witness these paracausal apparition are twisted or overwritten in such a way that they believe that they always existed.

Some touched by untime become aware of their curse (or blessing) and learn to suppress or harness it. Sometimes to great effect.

The unravelling of a universe is usually only noticed towards the very end of its days - at the point of no return. When so many anachronistic occurrences are present everywhere that the mind can no longer simply excuse their presence. These holes in reality run deep and tough everything, like rot on a gangrenous body.

Acolytes of Anachron

Acolytes and worshippers of Anachron are either aware of their legend, or are able to discern Anachronisms and welcome them as gifts. Sometimes those Anachronisms are great boons to those in tough situations. Sometimes they are an incredible way to swing a hopeless cause.

Those who worship Anachron believe that all universes come to an end at some point, and that it’s better to not worry about the inevitable.

Para-Medics

‘Paracausal Medics’, also known as Timestitchers, Chronojumpers.

An order of plane shifting mages and priests who work tirelessly and endlessly to save universes from Anachron’s curse. They are countless across all realities, and employ everything in their arsenal to do what needs to be done, including using risky chronomancy and even harnessing Anachronism themselves to patch the unseen holes in reality before they spread.

In some worlds, they meet fierce resistance from Anachron’s acolytes, in others they may resort to assassination of the untime-touched to stop the spread of temporal decay. In others, they are in and out subtly.
