The Epilogue

A dark, serrated, single edged blade the size of a greatsword made of an extremely light yet rigid chardalyn alloy. The weapon once belonged to an unknown celestial who fell somewhere in the Diamond Spar region.

Epilogue is a de-activated sentient weapon with elven mannerisms. It was used by Queen Bjornhild of the Tiger Clan as her warlock pact weapon (instilling it with the symbol of Auril in it’s hexagonal keystone slot), but without access to its awakened abilities.

In order to re-awaken the weapon, another hexagonal Keystone gem must be placed in the slot to bridge and complete the circuit.

Epilogue is a Dancing Manaphage - Legendary rarity Damage: 2d6 + dex slashing damage Attunement NOT required Market value: Priceless! Not sold on market.

Dancing

As a standard action, a dancing weapon can be loosed to attack on its own. It fights for 4 rounds using the base attack bonus (physical or magical casting stat) of the one who loosed it and then drops to the ground. Whether it attacks or not, it remains animate for 4 rounds before dropping to the ground.

The user of the dancing weapon may command it to attack using a bonus action or reaction (that means it can attack on their turn or off their turn).

While dancing, it cannot make attacks of opportunity, and the person who activated it is not considered armed with the weapon. In all other respects, it is considered wielded or attended by the creature for all maneuvers and effects that target items. Attacking with the weilder’s reaction does not interrupt a target’s action.

While dancing, it takes up the same space as the activating character and can attack adjacent foes. The dancing weapon accompanies the person who activated it everywhere, whether she moves by physical or magical means. If the wielder who loosed it has an unoccupied hand, she can grasp it while it is attacking on its own as a free action; when so retrieved the weapon can’t dance (attack on its own) again for 4 rounds.

Manaphage

Each day, Epilogue starts with 1 tier 3 spell slot. Any ally may spend a spell slot to grant it more. Each time Epilogue lands a final blow, it gains a 3rd tier spell slot. Living creatures slain by Epilogue have a chance to become petrified on true death (not knockout) - roll 1d4. On a 1, the creature and anything it carries becomes petrified.

Spells and Abilities:

Each use of a spell or ability uses one of Epilogue’s spell slots. All are cast at the highest available spell slot tier. (At the start of the day, it can cast at tier 3, once.)

Manablade A mana weapon has its significant portion transformed into ethereal energy, although this does not modify the item’s weight. The weapon gains an additional damage dice. It always gives off dim shade (10-foot radius). A brilliant energy weapon ignores nonliving matter. Armor and shield bonuses to AC (including any enhancement bonuses to that armor) do not count against it because the weapon passes through armor. Dexterity, deflection, dodge, natural armor, and other such bonuses still apply. For 4 rounds, Epilogue can transform into a manablade. While in this form, Epilogue deals necrotic damage rather than slashing.

Flameblade A flame weapon has its significant portion transformed into shimmering heat. Touching the heat to an unattended, flammable, nonmagical object causes it to ignite. . Any creature besides the weilder that ends its turn within 5 feet of the blade must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 15). The creature takes 2d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. For 4 rounds, Epilogue can transform into a flameblade. While in this form, Epilogue deals fire damage rather than slashing.

Parry Epilogue provides the equivalent of Shield of Faith on it’s weilder, with a duration of 4 rounds. For the duration, the weilder gains a +2 AC bonus as it moves unnaturally fast to parry incoming attacks.

Inflict More Wounds As part of its attack, Epilogue casts Inflict Wounds on a target at its highest spell tier. Damage dealt by this attack is equal to 2d6 slashing +mInflict Wounds. (For example: At tier 3, it deals 2d6 slashing + dex + 5d10 necrotic damage).

Enervating Rebuke: As a reaction, Epilogue uses a modified version of Hellish rebuke. When the weilder is damaged by a creature within 60 feet of them that they can see, Epilogue moves swiftly to the target and slashes it.

Absorb Magic: Cast as a reaction to any magical attack. The sword captures some of the incoming energy, lessening its effect on the weilder and storing it for its next melee attack. The weilder has resistance to the triggering damage type until the start of their next turn. Also, the first time Epilogue strikes with a melee attack, the target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the triggering type, and the spell ends. At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the extra damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 1st. (i.e. For a tier 3 spell, Epilogue deals 2d6 slashing + dex + 3d6 magical damage)

Baleful Transposition: The sword targets an entity which must make a CHA save (DC 10 + Weilder proficiency). If the target fail

Other abilities may be unlocked through use!
