A shockingly heavy fist sized hollow frame dodecahedron made of dull green metal. It is intricately carved with magical circuits on the inside and outside, and a single deep black spherical gem in the center. The gem levitates within the frame, and there are several wires from the frame that almost touch the gem, but are separated by a few mm of space from its surface.
There is a wall of force surrounding the gem, and it cannot be touched. Occasionally, a dim green light flashes from within it with a certain complex pattern. The object cannot be destroyed with non-magical means, and is untouched by almost all magical means.
Handling the object causes a tingling sensation after a few seconds. After an hour of close contact, living tissue begins to burn and rot (3d12 necrotic damage at the end of each hour). After 2 hours of close contact, living creatures lose their senses (Con save DC 16. Blindness, deafness, paralysis on failure). If a creature is killed within the vicinity of the unfinished phylactery, well, you’ll find out. If a creature is killed by the necrotic damage of the unfinished phylactery, well, you’ll find that out too. It exudes a necrotic aura in a 15 foot radius that can kill small animals and plants, corrupting the environment nearby.
- If an intelligent creature is slain in the vicinity, it makes a a charisma saving throw to see if it is posessed by the corrupted soul of Asheon the Defiled.
- If an intelligent creature is slain BY the necrotic damage of the phylactery, it is automatically posessed by the corrupted soul of Asheon the Defiled.
- Asheon is not interested in regular animals, except maybe a dragon.
Storing the unfinished phylactery in a lead box or demiplane nullifies all of its effects.
*As the phylactery is unfinished, it is only able to take over bodies, not generate a new one from scratch. Each time the soul is transferred, less remains of its memories.
