A rather crude weapon constructed by Argathameia Telatree. It consists of several lengths of pipe screwed together, with a loop of razor wire affixed to the end which can be retracted into the body of the staff, forming a tightening slipknot. The loop is meant to be slung around a creatures neck and then tightened in order to choke, slash, and hold it still.
Thay is excited about the weapon, though it looks like it was constructed by a feral goblin gang rather than an artifice student.
Effects
Effects are subject to change if they’re too busted!
The weapon can be used one or two handed (versatile), which allows it to deal 1d6 or 1d8 bludgeoning damage respectively.
Additionally, the welder may make a Called Shot (roll with disadvantage) to attempt to snare the neck or limb of another creature. If the attack is successful, the other creature is considered Grappled (movement speed 0) until the start of the user’s next turn. As part of a successful grapple action, the wielder may make a contested strength check against the target. If it succeeds, the creature is both Grappled and Prone, and suffers an additional 1d4 slashing damage.
In order to retain the grapple, the wielder must use their action (to make the same called grapple attack) to sustain it the following turn, otherwise the effect ends and the target is freed (for balance reasons).
Shock Collar When fitted with an appropriate enchantment core, it gains 2 charges which grant the following effect: When a creature is grappled by the Man-Catcher, the wielder may press a button along its length to deliver an excruciatingly painful electric shock. The target must make a DC 15 Con save or take an additional 2d12 Lightning damage.
