Elves

Elves are not very common in the world these days. In the early days of the Ring, there were many elves across the world, but they did not breed as much as the other species. Over time, elves ended up keeping to themselves because of their long lifespans (it was rather depressing living with short lived species, and elves mature much more slowly which often caused awkwardness with other species). Elves sometimes have strange mentalities due to their much slower rates of mental maturation, as well as becoming geriatric in mind even though they might still be young in body.

There are several elf colonies on the orbiting islands across the world, as well as some in more remote regions in the Inner ranges.

Elves in Cytgard live to around 400 years old. (400 years old would be like 100 years old for a human)

Eladrin

These are a strange type of elf that are considered by many to be alien or mutant. They share a similar physical shape to terrestrial elves, but they are functionally immortal. They reach maturity at around 50 years, and then seem to cease to age much past the human equivalent of “middle aged”. Eladrin also possess exceptional physical resilience and inexplicable magical powers. Different subspecies of Eladrin are suited for survival in different extreme environments, and often have skin, hair, muscle, and bone colours that are associated with those environments (i.e. Ice Eladrin: very pale, able to resist extreme cold, innate magical ability to channel heat/cold. Void Eladrin: very dark in colour, nearly completely black - able to survive in nearly total vacuum and without breathing air. Supposedly they breathe pure mana, and they have the innate ability to channel gravitational magic allowing them to float and fly around in the void. Etc.) The oldest Eladrin (and Eladrin history) claim that their ancestors came from different worlds of the Home System, and that they are adapted for the harsh environments of those alien worlds. Some people believe that Eladrin are the result of magical experimentation that attempted to create a ‘perfect species’, or that they were created as a fail safe by the Progenitors or Outsiders to survive environmental catastrophe on the Ring. Eladrin are vanishingly rare and almost always keep to themselves. Most known Eladrin live in extremely isolated communities either near the Edges, on the orbiting islands, or just in hard to reach and inhospitable places. It is theorized by some that some Eladrin even live on the Outside.

Half Elves

Half elves are a subspecies of elves created by elves breeding with other mammalian humanoids. Most half elves live to around 200 years at the oldest (generally), and are much more similar to normal humanoids in biology and psychology. Half elves interbreeding with each other create further generations of half elves (though features of the parents are combined in the child as with normal humanoids.) Half elves, bearing strong resemblance to their other ‘half’ as well as inheriting many of their psychological traits have an easy time melding in with the rest of society on Cytgard and are extremely common.
