- Souls are believed by some to be someone or something’s pattern of life that is imprinted onto the weave. When their body dies, their soul is no longer bound to it and is free-standing. Most souls instinctively begin drifting towards the Umbra into the domain of whatever god they worshipped or had sway over them. What is within the umbra is unknown.
- Sometimes souls that do not drift away stick around until they decay. Since they are non-physical creatures that are just an imprint on the weave, they can maniulate mana to some extent. Some souls become spirits/poltergeists/ghosts that can interact with the physical world with their manipulation of mana (basically like mage hand or unseen servant). Unfortunately the soul decays and the ghost slowly loses its mind, either doing mindless things like pushing things around a room for no reason, or going insane and trying to destroy things or kill people for a purpose that only the gods know.
- Some entities are known to hijack souls as they are leaving the mortal body (certain very infamour undead such as liches), and some bind them to themselves (such as devils who offer contracts). The intricate pattern of souls can be used as a power source for such entities.
- Sometimes the opposite occurs, and a soul will try to hi-jack a body. This is the source of certain types of undead.- Souls are believed by some to be someone or something’s pattern of life that is imprinted onto the weave.
