Sybil - Sun’s Frenzy
Description
Sybil has crash landed in the bluffs around the Mirror Sea, near Libir Watch.
She wears partial moonvault armor (A heavily burned and scratched helmet and gauntlets, the rest has been badly mangled and destroyed upon impact. She is wearing a skin tight silver jumpsuit with a grey jacket tied around her waist, tastefully covering parts.)
She has straight black shoulder length hair, gold/amber eyes (like all Devas) and dark skin. She stands about 7 feet tall and has a translucent golden halo with a celestial magic circuit inscribed on the inside. There is a large crack on the halo, seemingly from impact.
Personality:
- Switches between stoic and classical “celestial bombosticness”when her halo is on, to casual, overly friendly, and crass when it’s off.
- She has to think hard to remember the details of her mission or her flight from the heavens
History
- Sybil was part of the Sol Invictus party. They had a cleric, barbarian, and sorcerer
- Sybil, Berserker Barbarian
- Solace, the Light Cleric. Sybil always thought her rambling about history and gods and demons was boring, and that she was too stuck up and good. Now Sybil misses her.
- Wei Ren, the Sorcerer. He showed her the wonders of magic, and often magically empowered her in battle. She loved the sensation, and he was the only one who made her have and interest in magic.
Armaments:
- Sybil is armed with a beam greatsword (1d10 + 8 force, 5ft reach) that she uses as a long sword 1 handed
- Celestial beam: 2x a day, maybe (recharge 5,6).
- Frenzy Rage: 3x (1x additional attack as bonus action)
Goals
- First and foremost, she wants to cleanse the forest of evil spirits (the evil treants that possess the trees here). Celestials have no tolerance for evil.
- She remembers that she came down here as a fire team of 3. Sybil the Sun’s Frenzy (totem barbarian), Zekhmet the Unbending Zealot (Astral monk) , and Miltorel the Miraculous (light cleric). They were each supposed to head to a different area within Acidalia - her assignment was to investigate all the disturbances around the Mirror sea.
- Something about mages messing with free mana, or summoning things they shouldn’t be. Some dark rituals? An elemental godling? Whatever it was, disorder is brewing in Acidalia, and the world is on the precipice. The 5 Titans warn of calamity, didn’t you hear?
- She knows that there was an exact mission plan but doesn’t remember any details. She keeps adjusting the halo as if trying to get a signal. It seems to be linked to her memory.
- Her memory of the details are all jumbled. She has to investigate to find out. Maybe you can help?
- The party can help by occasionally contacting her with details regarding these things, or just sharing what they know.
She does not remember the details of her quest as those were stored in her halo, which was damaged when she crash landed (her head hit the halo inside the helmet).
But the situation is: There were 3 celestials sent down to Acidalia to investigate the recent exceptional disturbances. One went south to investigate the new outbreak of Clear Death as it is believed to be linked to a big mana fluctuation at Zelestar (sudden mana spike after being a near deadzone for centuries) and Ivorox (wide area, gradual mana drop after being a hotspot for centuries).
Another was sent to investigate the Mirror Sea region, as there had been several major disturbances. It has been heard that a cult attempted to summon a Class 1 (Class 0 being the absolute highest) threat extraterrestrial entity which would likely have been calamatous. Remaining cultists were to be hunted down and cross examined by the Pantheon by Sybil. The cult was able to attempt such a massive scale ritual because of increased mana concentration in the region that has been building up over the last few decades (much more rapid concentration change than natural). This is believed to be the work of a few agents in the region, and those entities are also to be hunted down.
A final celestial has been sent to low orbit to the north, in case anything arises there.
History: Sybil has been summoned by the gods to watch and keep peace on the surface. She is just happy to be back in the material plane and wants to eat real food before anything else.
Sybil has been “reincarnated” from a soul in the Umbral Catacombs as a Deva, a servant of the god that created her. Her personality from her past life is mostly preseved, though the halo above her head overrides any decision she makes against the god’s wishes and keeps her loyal and goal oriented. It also supplies her with tremendous celestial power. The halo was damaged from her crash, and its enchanting effect as well as its power granting effect kicks on and off sporadically.
- Sybil was a mortal barbarian some 120 years ago. She died in battle, and her soul went to the umbral Catacombs in the Solar Pantheon. She spent time at Mt. Celestia, and was deemed worthy of being am emissary due to her behavior in life and in death (strongly chaotic good).
- Certain spirits are selected for reincarnation as Deva based on their attributes. They have a driving force and can function in mortal society. They are given specific addition/overwriting attributes by their halo when they are re-created, and the halo also serves to grant them a bit of additional celestial power (beams, healing, shape-shifting, etc.)
- After the souls are put into their new and improved bodies, they are sent down to the surface with a specific compulsion (compelled by their halo), and a task to execute
