The small village of Tally’s Till resides very near the city of Creiril, about a 45 minute walk north along a gravel path. The hamlet’s main industry is cottage products (novelties, homemade food, magically or hand woven cloth, specialty herbs, etc.), and small scale agriculture (mainly of herbs, vegetables, and animal products)

The hamlet is home to only about 500 permanent residents, and an additional impermanent 50 or so at a time - people traveling through the region who do not wish to stop in Creiril, or looking to stay in a smaller settlement for a moderate period of time before moving on (traders selling wares for a few days, hunters stopping in town avoiding the bigger city, nomadic peoples such as firbolg clans not averse to small settlements, etc.)

A stream runs through the center of town, flowing down the mountain range and towards Creiril to the south.

Notable Establishments

Tholes’ Woodwork: The workshop of an elderly full elf woodworker named Tholes Mercator, who specializes in live wood sculptures and open air ‘terrariums’.

  • Tholes is rumored to have been an incredibly powerful druid. He neither confirms nor denies this. He is a very relaxed fellow these days, and nobody’s seen him actually do anything druidic.

Sana’s Pottery: The workshop of a female human potter named Sana Aster, known for her fire-resistant stoneware scale armor. Out of towners sometimes come specifically to seek her out and commission armor sets.

  • Sana looks young for such an expert craftsman (though she’s in her mid 30s). She was once trained under a well renouned stonesmith in Nephire who she doesn’t like to talk about much.

The Modest Mug: A modest halfling run tavern and inn, decorated with intricate, organically carved wood doors, said to have come from the border of the Feywild.

  • The proprietors are Halduin Brandywood and Prisca Longlock, a pair of middle aged, jolly halflings.
  • A cozy, two-story inn with a large willow tree growing through its center (rumored to be mildly sentient due to fey influence).
  • A favorite resting spot for travelers, hunters, and firbolg nomads passing through.

The Fisher’s Rest - A riverside dock and open-air market where locals sell fresh fish, river clams, and watercress. - Occasionally, a river spirit (a naiad or grindylow) is spotted watching the fishermen. None have been eaten yet, but most will offer it some of their catch, just in case.

The Till’s End Brewery - A micro-brewery known for its honey-mead and spruce-tip ale, made with ingredients foraged from the woods. - The brewmaster, a jovial dwarf named Thorgar, claims his best batches are blessed by “the little folk.” Patrons roll their eyes, knowing he just says this because some gnome culinary reviewers came by once and gave the establishment a good review in their almanac.

The Old Watchtower - An old stone tower on the edge of town, now used as a lookout for the town rangers (and a meeting place for children telling ghost stories). - Some say it was once a fey crossing point, and on certain nights, faint music can be heard from within. This is in fact due to the rangers playing music inside, but the children like to believe that there is some magical influence on the tower.

The Tally Market

A bi-weekly market held in the town square. Local vendors and travelling merchants set up stalls of varying permanence to sell their wares either to each other or visitors.

Many people visit from Creiril to browse the Tally Market. The goods sold here are more rustic than those generally found in Creiril, and include hearty foods and locally farmed produce and animal products such as bird and reptile eggs, Sil goat milk, etc.

A majority of local transactions are done through barter rather than through currency exchange. Some visitors quite enjoy this.

Some usual merchants:

  • Sanzir Brash - a halfling man with wiry red hair who sells oster eggs (blue eggs of a large flightless bird)
  • Khori Reini - a human woman who sells mildly enchanted kitch artwork. Surprisingly popular with Creiril residents.
  • Dalos Stone - a male half orc farmer who sells various fruit from the Imou region, many of which are hard to grow in this climate and require specialized knowledge. Quite novel.
  • Aben Goldbeam - a female halfling ranger/hunter who sells whatever she catches in the nearby alpine forest.
  • Iokio Serai “Kio” - a male ‘human’ potion/elixir merchant that trades from Creiril and beyond. He buys and sell herbs and produce from Tally’s Till and processes them into elixirs to sell in both Creiril and Tally’s Till. Iokio Serai
  • Adrenapidae “Adrena” - a lone androgenous fairy (insectoid and beelike, indigo and black striped) that sells squares or powder chocolate. They say it’s made from a secret mix of plants found in the nearby forest that they and their swarm cultivate.

Local specialties:

  • Fey-Touched Honey – Produced by allied pixies in the surrounding forest. Said to bring vivid (and potentially sensual) dreams if eaten before bed.
  • Willow-woven Baskets – Lightweight yet impossibly sturdy, these baskets are a favorite among traders. They’re made in all shapes and sizes.
  • Spiced River Trout – Smoked with local herbs, a delicacy often purchased and sent as gifts to Creiril, most often by tourists.
  • “Miraculous Milk” - A pearlescent milky substance made from frostflower extract which induces a range of hallucinations. Sold in glass milk bottles by several different merchants. The stuff is an imitation of the highly regulated, widely banned, and often lethal Miracle Milk, but somehow flies under the radar.
