The Ember-Tail Clan

“Where the fire dies, we remain.”

  • Appearance: Foxes with crimson, gold, or smoke-gray fur, often wearing charred silk robes and iron jewelry (to weigh down their spirits).

  • Current Home: A burnt grove in the forest, where the trees are blackened but still bear fruit—said to be the site of an ancient feud with a fire spirit/elemental. The spirit has since been domesticated by the clan.

  • Magic: Specialize in fire and shadow illusions, often leaving behind phantom embers that burn cold to the touch.

  • Culture:

    • Believe that true wisdom comes from loss; they ritually burn their shed tails to “engrave the past in ash.”

The Moon-Dew Clan

“We drink the moons’ tears and know what will be.”

  • Appearance: Pale silver or blue-white fur, with glimmering, liquid-like eyes. The elders wear robes spun from moon lotus fibers and glass amulets filled with moonmetal sand.

  • Current Home: A floating island above the Brilliant Ocean that follows the orbits of the moons.

  • Magic: Masters of prophecy and water magic. Their divinations show possible futures, but must be interpreted correctly

  • Culture:

    • Collect dream essences in dew-filled moonmetal bowls, using them to brew tea that grants visions.
    • Avoid direct contact with non-fey mortals, believing they “tangle fate’s threads.”

The Thistle-Whisper Clan

“The sharpest tongue hides the softest heart.”

  • Appearance: Russet or brown fur, often woven with living vines or thistle flowers. Wear patchwork cloaks stitched with protective charms.
  • Home: A bramble maze that shifts to repel intruders, filled with poisonous roses that can heal those who “speak kindly” to them.
  • Magic: Command plants and wind, using thorns as weapons and dandelion seeds as messengers.
  • Culture:
    • Pranksters and healers—they test visitors with verbal riddles and only aid those who answer with wit.
    • Adopted many fey and non fey orphans. Their den is a haven for the lost.

The Silent Harmony Clan

“Those that keep the silent harmony of the Rings.”

A once a revered lineage of kitsune scholars and engineers, the Silent Harmony Clan was entrusted with the some of the ancient, celestial mechanisms that maintained the delicate balance of the ringworld. Their ancestors were among the few who understood the harmonic sciences that kept the gravity, climate, and ley lines of the world in perfect sync.

  • Appearance: Coppery or iron grey fur, similar to that of a coyote. Elders wear robes woven from “static silk” (a fabric that absorbs sound) and phaseglass lenses to see “the world’s hidden frequencies.”
  • Current Home: The Channora Spire, an impossibly steep mountain in Channora, said to have a direct link between heaven and earth.
  • Culture:
    • They see reality as delicate machinery. Their duty was to “banish dissonance into silence”.
  • Magic: See and tune machinery through silent song. The song is audible only to machines and others of their lineage.

Soundless Bell Clan

A surprisingly laid back sect of the Silent Harmony. They are reclusive, but relatively casual in their dealings with non-fey. They are often called upon by visitors to resolve mysterious issues which are suspected to be technological in nature, ranging from a faulty Stabilizer Array Station, to rogue Gardeners, to glitchy arcology systems. They’ve retained quite a bit of knowledge about worldly machinery, despite their distance from the main clan.
